Edwin Sifuna Educational Background
Edwin Sifuna began his education at Kakamega Township Primary School and continued at Musingu High School, where he completed his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams. He pursued a Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Nairobi, graduating in 2006. Sifuna then obtained a Post Graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law in 2007. He completed his pupilage at Kairu & McCourt Advocates in Nairobi and was admitted to the Roll of Advocates in 2008.
Political Career
In 2013, Sifuna joined the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) as a Technical/Advisory Committee Member and later served in a similar capacity for the National Super Alliance (NASA). He first ran for a political office in the 2017 Kenyan general election, seeking the Kanduyi Constituency Member of Parliament seat on an ODM Party ticket, but he was unsuccessful in the primaries.
In the run-up to the 2017 general elections, ODM fronted Sifuna as their candidate for the Nairobi senatorial seat, which he lost to Johnson Sakaja. Despite this setback, Sifuna was appointed as the Secretary-General of the ODM Party in February 2018, succeeding Ababu Namwamba. In 2019, he was elected Vice-chair of the Centre for Multiparty Democracy (CMD).
In the 2022 general election, Sifuna ran for the Nairobi Senatorial seat again and won, receiving 716,876 votes. In February 2023, he was appointed Deputy Minority Whip in the Senate.
